One of the reasons why I came to Georgetown in Penang is that I heard that it has got amazing street food. And it’s true! You can eat very well for very little money while sitting on plastic chairs on some street corner.
Penang is a colourful mix of Indian, Malay and Chinese culture. At one time you could feel like you’re in India (a very clean version of it) and then if you walk two streets down you’ll feel like you’re in an old kind of Southern China (again, a very clean version of it). It’s quite amazing!
I visited a particularly curious Chinese area, which were the Chinese clan jetties.
I left Cambodia and got on a plane to my next destination: Malaysia! I had heard from several people that Kuala Lumpur isn’t that great, so I decided to go straight to Georgetown in Penang which I heard had a lot more character and amazing cheap food.
And so it did! I ate my way through Georgetown for five days – but more about that later. For now I want to show you all the great street art that Georgetown is also becoming famous for.
